Back in 2021, Asus announced the first tablet in this series, the Asus Chromebook CM3000 (review). Now, they’ve taken the wraps off its successor, the Chromebook CM3001. This newer model shares several similarities with its predecessor, but it does come with some specs bumps such as a slightly faster processor and more.

Aimed at budget-conscious consumers, the 2-in-1 tablet hits the sweet spot between a laptop and tablet. It comes with a detachable keyboard and a magnetic stand. The tablet also bundles an electronic pen that can be stashed in the case and charges itself. However, the detachable keyboard, designed specifically for the tablet, is an optional accessory, so you’ll need to purchase it separately.

The tablet sports a 10.5-inch screen with a 1920×2000 pixels resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio, 60Hz refresh rate. It is crafted from recycled aluminum and is certified to meet the rugged US military standard MIL-STD 810H. Under the hood, it’s packing a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor, offering up to 8GB of LPDDR4X-4266 RAM and up to 128GB of eMMC storage. So, it’s got the power to handle your tasks.

This Chromebook has a 5MP front camera and a 5MP rear camera. It supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.2, and optional LTE 4G based on the variant you go for. Other connectivity features include USB 3.0 Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, a proprietary keyboard port, dual speakers, and a microphone. To recall, the CM3000 came with WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2. This means that with the newer model, you get advanced connectivity too. A 38Wh battery backs the device with up to 12 hours of battery life as touted by Asus.

Unfortunately, Asus hasn’t yet revealed the pricing or availability details.
