Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra Tipped to Feature Overclocked Snapdragon SoC
The high-end variant in the Tab S9 series might feature a “for Galaxy” overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

The evidence continues to mount that Samsung will launch an all-new flagship Galaxy Tab series this year. Recently, a Twitter source disclosed more details on the upcoming tablet, including its probable battery capacity and processor – which is supposedly going to be an overclocked “for Galaxy” Snapdragon SoC – both of which are likely identical to those seen in last year’s popular Tab S8 Ultra model.
The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra should be equipped with an impressive battery boasting a rated capacity of 10,880mAh. The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra will be just as powerful as its predecessor – the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. This means that it is likely to ship with an 11,200mAh typical capacity battery too.
Overclocked Snapdragon chipset on Tab S9 Ultra
Samsung optimized the performance of their new flagship Galaxy S23 series by powering it with an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a variant that was specially tuned for use in their devices.
According to unofficial reports on Twitter, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series will feature a “for Galaxy” overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The source initially alluded to it being the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2+, but after further inspection, we believe that this tablet lineup will have access to the same chipset as its 2023 flagship phones.
There is currently a lot of mystery surrounding the upcoming Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. Generally speaking, Qualcomm’s Plus branded chips only offer a slight increase in performance over their predecessor models; thus, it appears as if Samsung may be using an existing line of SoCs for its products rather than introducing something completely new. With this in mind, one could easily draw comparisons between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and what we expect from the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2.
While many features remain a mystery, we recently reported that the forthcoming Galaxy Tab S9 lineup might offer an IP67 dust and water-resistance rating. If this is indeed accurate, it would be the first Samsung tablet range to feature waterproof capabilities – one that excludes any Active-branded tablets.
Samsung is set to introduce their Galaxy Tab S9 series sometime in the late Summer or early Fall, coinciding with the launch of their new Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 models. Chances are that it will feature a regular-sized model, as well as larger options such as the Tab S9+ and even more premium offerings like the high-end Tab S9 Ultra.
