Huawei MatePad 11 Tablet with “Paper-like” Display Launched in China
Huawei finally launched the MatePad 11 (2023) Harmony OS tablet with paper-like display for immersive user experience.
Huawei’s launch event today stirred up plenty of buzz with all its new announcements. At the event, Huawei finally unveiled the MatePad 11 (2023) Harmony OS tablet alongside Enjoy 60 smartphone the FreeBuds 5 TWS earbuds.
Huawei’s MatePad 11 (2023) is a mid-range tablet that packs some serious power, with up to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also supports both touch and pen input for those who like more precision when writing or drawing on the device. But the main selling point of this tablet is the 11-inch 2560 x 1600 pixel IPS LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate and paper-like qualities— reduced glare, eye strain relief plus improved handwriting experience.
Paper-like Display for immersive experience
As per Huawei’s China website, the tablet display uses Anti-glare nano-etching technology8 to reduce light interference, providing a paper-like damping feel when using the pressure-sensitive M Pencil stylus. Additionally, the display tech reduces reflections while watching movies or reading content; all of which lead to improved focus and minimized eye discomfort3. Furthermore, it is equipped with Color Picturebook Mode10, which allows users to read comics on the tablet as if they were printed on real paper.
Huawei’s latest tablet is most likely going to rival TCL’s NXTPAPER tablet. The company touts that the unique features and textures of display make it appear more akin to paper and can provide immersive experiences for users who are looking for something new and exciting from their displays.
The MatePad 11 is a compact and lightweight device with dimensions of 254 x 165 x 7mm and weighing 480 grams, boasting a 7,250 mAh battery supported by 10V/2.25A charging. It houses a 13MP rear-facing camera along with an 8MP front-facing lens – all powered by the latest HarmonyOS operating system created by Huawei. The tablet comes with quad speakers powered by Huawei Histen 8.0 sound effects while connectivity options include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, and USB Type-C.
Huawei MatePad 11 Pricing and Availability
The MatePad 11 (2023) is available in a range of beautiful shades, from Obsidian Black to Island Blue and Crystal White to Streamer Purple. Prices start at just CNY 2,199 ($322), sales open in China on March 30th. The model with a Snapdragon 865 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB storage will set you back at least 2899 CNY (approximately $425). If you want to upgrade your device’s specs even further, then the price increases accordingly. On top of that, if you wish to add on the optional stylus feature – you’ll have to pay some extra bucks.
It’s not certain when this model will be available beyond China, however Huawei still offers some of its phones in Europe as well as other nations. So we might see the MatePad debuting outside China soon.
