Apple is reportedly investing in OLED panels from top suppliers LG Display and Samsung to be used for its upcoming iPad Pro models, which are predicted to launch next year.

According to Business Korea, Apple placed orders with the two display companies for 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch OLED panels–unfortunately, leaving out Chinese supplier BOE on this one!

Apple reportedly placed orders for the development of 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch panels for the iPad with Samsung Display and LG Display. BOE was excluded.

Korean display makers are planning to produce OLED panels for the iPad at their current sixth-generation (1500mm x 1850mm) line.

Business Korea

According to Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, Apple has yet to settle the amount of OLED displays they will order for their iPad Pro; however, both Korean factories likely mentioned would receive equal orders.

Display analyst Ross Young, who has a history of accurate Apple rumors, reports that in early 2024 the tech giant will release 11.1-inch and 13-inch OLED iPad Pro models.

Despite citing the same industry sources, it is perplexing why two recent Korean reports display conflicting dimensions. Prior accounts have stated that Apple intends to incorporate larger 11.1-inch and 13-inch OLED screens for ‌iPad Pro‌ devices with narrowed bezels instead of modifying its size altogether; yet, this remains unconfirmed as of now.

Currently, Apple offers the 12.9-inch mini-LED ‌iPad Pro‌ and the 11-inch ‌iPad Pro with a classic LCD screen; however, it seems that only their more premium model carries this feature. Nevertheless, it looks like we can expect both models to have similar features when they upgrade in 2024 – which is something to look forward to!

With the launch of two upcoming MacBooks equipped with OLED displays – a 14-inch and 16-inch model slated to arrive in 2026, as per today’s reports – speculation is rife regarding Apple’s plans for their new models. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg claims that a MacBook Pro featuring an OLED display may be released as early as 2025, potentially making it the first touchscreen Mac.

According to Young, the tech giant is prepping a 13-inch MacBook Air with an OLED display for launch as early as next year. This coincides with the expected release of their new OLED iPad Pro models. Noted Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo attests to this notion, predicting that we will witness the first MacBook featuring an OLED display next year.
