It has been reported that Redmi is working on a new tablet, as it has been listed on the EEC certification database with the model number 23073RPBFG. Although the listing did not reveal any details about the tablet’s specifications or name, it is anticipated to be the Redmi Pad 2.

Tipster Kacper Skrzypek has shared leaked details of the Redmi Pad 2 on Twitter. According to Skrzypek, the upcoming tablet will be powered by the Snapdragon 680 chipset, which is a departure from the Helio G99 SOC used in the previous version, the Redmi Pad.

According to the tipster, the upcoming tablet will have a larger 10.95-inch LCD panel compared to the original model’s 10.61-inch screen. The Pad 2’s display will support a resolution of 1,200 x 1,920 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. It is expected that the Redmi Pad 2 will come with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The original Redmi Pad had an 8-megapixel camera on both the front and rear.

The leak only provides information about the Redmi Pad 2’s processor, stating that it will feature a Snapdragon 680 chipset. The leak also mentions that the Redmi Pad 2 will run on Android 13 OS, possibly with MIUI 14. As there is no information on its battery, RAM, or storage capacities yet, it is recommended to wait for future updates for more details.

The rumored display specifications of the Redmi Pad 2 include a 10.95-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 1200×1920 pixels. It is said to support a 90Hz refresh rate for a better visual experience.

The Redmi Pad 2 is tipped to come powered by a Snapdragon 680 chipset instead of the Helio G99 SOC previously used in the Redmi Pad. This change may result in a decrease in overall performance. Comparatively, the Helio G99 typically has around 16% better GPU performance and outperforms the Snapdragon 680 by approximately 35% on AnTuTu benchmarks.

The Redmi Pad 2 is reported to have a rear-facing primary camera with an 8-megapixel resolution, which should provide reasonable picture quality. It is also expected to have a front-facing camera with a 5-megapixel resolution for taking selfies and making video calls.

At the moment, there is no information available about the tablet’s features except that it will come with the Android 13 operating system and Xiaomi’s MIUI 14 interface, making it user-friendly and packed with features.

The price of the Redmi Pad 2 will play a crucial role in deciding whether it’s worth upgrading from the older version considering the possible difference in performance. Some consumers may not see the value in paying more for the new model. It will be interesting to see how the brand positions and prices the tablet in the market.
