Samsung Galaxy Book 10.6 with S Pen Specifications & Comparisons
The Samsung Galaxy Book 10 is a 10.6-inch tablet running Windows 10. Samsung introduced it at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2017. While it is a small 2-in-1, it is quite powerful thanks to its Intel Core m3 processor, 4GB of RAM and an up to 256GB SSD. Thanks to the included keyboard cover, you can use it as a tablet and as a notebook. Unlike with Microsofts Surface lineup, the S Pen is included as well. Here is everything you should know about the Samsung Galaxy Book 10.6.
Highlights
- 10.6-inch full HD screen
- Intel Core m3 processor
- Keyboard and S Pen included
- Full metal body
Samsung Galaxy Book 10.6: The Basics
The Samsung Galaxy Book 10 looks like a lot of Windows tablets of this class. It has a silver back and black bezels around the screen. While it does not offer an integrated kickstand, it has an 8.9-millimeter thin full metal body. On the sides, we’re getting a USB Type C port, a micro SD card slot and a standard 3.5-millimeter audio jack.
With its 10.6-inch screen, the tablet is a lot smaller than most competitors. It’s an IPS panel with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1280. Obviously, it is a touchscreen but in addition to your fingers, you can also work on the screen with an active pen. The S Pen is included and works very similar to the one of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3.
Samsung is shipping the tablet with a 7th generation Intel Core m3 processor which does not need any active cooling. In addition to that, you can get it with a 64GB, 128GB or 256GB SSD. The memory is fixed at 4GB. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS.
Another included accessory is the keyboard cover. Since the tablet does not have an integrated kickstand, the keyboard cover does – including a keyboard and a touchpad. As we are used to from most competitors, the keyboard attached magnetically.

First Impressions
While I wasn’t able to review the Samsung Galaxy Book 10.6 as of now, I did take a closer look at it when Samsung announced it. At this press conference, my first impressions were okay, but certainly not outstanding. Take a look for yourself:
Comparisons: The Competition
Actually, the Galaxy Book 10 does not have a lot of direct competitors. Most 10-inch Windows tablets like the Lenovo MIIX 320 or ASUS Transformer Mini are shipped with a much weaker Intel Atom x5. While they are not as powerful, they usually are a lot cheaper.
There is one direct alternative out of China. Depending on where you are from, you might not have the same warranty or support though. I’m talking about the Cube Mix Plus. It is much cheaper but offers a similar 10.6-inch screen, the same Intel Core m3, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. You can get an optional keyboard dock and optional active pen – which is not as precise as the S Pen though.
