Acer Chromebook Tab 10 Chrome OS Tablet Specs, Alternatives & More

The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 is the first real Chrome OS tablet. It features a 9.7-inch screen and an active stylus. Because of that and its price starting at 329 US Dollars, it is a direct competitor to the 6th generation Apple iPad 2018. Like most Chromebooks, its main focus is the education market. Here is everything you should know about the Acer Chromebook Tab 10.

Highlights
- High-resolution 9.7-inch screen
- 2GHz Rockchip RK33XX processor
- Wacom stylus
- Chrome OS with Android app support
Acer Chromebook Tab 10: The Basics
On first sight, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 looks like a typical Android tablet, that copies a couple of elements from the iPad. However, it has a full plastic body. While it might be robust enough for the classroom, it certainly does not look as high-end as Apple’s competitor does. However, it features an active Wacom stylus which can be stored inside the tablet itself.
The 9.7-inch IPS screen has a very high resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixel. Inside runs a 2GHz Rockchip RK33XX hexa-core processor with 4GB of RAM. The internal storage has a capacity of just 32GB. However, it can be upgraded using a MicroSD card. It also features a standard USB 3.1 Type C port which can be used to connect HD displays.
In the last couple of month, Chrome OS has been more and more optimized to be used by touchscreens only. While you will be able to attach a Bluetooth or USB keyboard, the operating system can be navigated by touch too. In addition to that, the Chromebook Tab 10 supports the Google Play Store and Android apps.

Alternatives
The only other real Chrome OS tablet right now is the HP Chromebook x2. That one is more expensive, has a 12.3-inch screen and comes with a full keyboard dock.
Another direct competitor is the Apple iPad 2018 with a similar form factor, a more premium-feeling build quality and Apple Pencil support. If you are looking for similar Android tablets, you can check out the more expensive Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 or similarly priced ASUS ZenPad 3S 10.

The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 will hit stores in April 2018 in North America. Prices start at 329 US Dollars. Elsewhere in the world, the tablet is set to be available in May. In Europe, it will cost 329 Euros including VAT.
