Amazon Fire HD 10 & Fire HD 10 Plus: The Basics
Like we mentioned earlier, the two new Fire tablets are significant upgrades over their predecessors—a 2GHz octa-core processor powers both the tablets. The Fire HD 10 gets 3GB of RAM, while the Fire HD 10 Plus gets a step ahead with 4GB of RAM. Both tablets feature a 10.1-inch full-HD 1080p display.
Both Fire HD 10 tablets boast sleek bodies with fewer bezels. Amazon claims the screen to be “10% brighter than before”.
For regular Fire HD tablet users, the new models will feel pretty similar. They come with the usual 10.1-inch HD screens and weigh around 16.5-ounce that goes hand-in-hand with vertical and landscape usage.
The HD 10 and HD 10 Plus (2021) variants are touted to offer up to 12 hours of battery life on mixed usage, including browsing, entertainment, and more. The Fire HD 10 supports wired charging, while the HD 10 Plus supports Qi wireless charging. Users can get an Amazon-approved wireless charger to pair with their new Fire HD 10 Plus tablet. It is a great feature for those who don’t want to get tangled with wires and prefer a dock to charge their device wirelessly.
Both tablets sport a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. These are pretty standard cameras that get the deed done, but nothing fancy here.
The Plus model also gets a new feature in the form of “Show Mode” that works as a countertop display when attached to a keyboard dock. The latest Fire HD 10 Plus tablet comes out to be a great choice for those who want a tablet for their work for home requirements.
The Fire HD 10 and HD 10 Plus also support Dolby Atmos offering an enhanced multimedia experience. The upgraded Fire OS gets split-screen multitasking features even for entertainment apps like Prime Video, Netflix, and Disney+.
Amazon has also launched the ‘Productivity Bundle’ for the HD 10 Plus tablet. This bundle clubs a Finite-designed keyboard case and Microsoft 365 annual subscription.
With the latest Fire tablets lineup, Amazon finally brings support for Microsoft Office and OneNote apps. Users can now download these apps from the Amazon App store. It’s worth noting that Microsoft suite bundles apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in one. Also, Microsoft has included other apps to the Amazon App Store for Fire tablets. It now comprises Outlook, Xbox, and Xbox Game Pass apps.
Amazon Fire HD 10 & Fire HD 10 Plus: Accessories
For Amazon HD 10 and HD 10 Plus tablets, the e-commerce giant has listed accessories like a case, screen protector, chargers, and more. These accessories are up for purchase separately.
The Fire HD 10 Plus with Qi wireless charging support can be paired with an Amazon-approved wireless charging dock by Anker or other brands. One of the best things about wireless charging docks is that it also doubles as a stand for the tablet. It gives a safe space for your tablet to rest on your work desk.
Overall, the Fire HD 10 (2021) takes heavily after its predecessor but introduces welcoming changes in the form of more RAM, bigger battery capacity, USB-C support, and fewer bezels around the screen. The Fire HD 10 Plus also gets more RAM, wireless charging support, connectivity with external accessories like a keyboard.

Amazon Fire HD 10 and Fire HD 10 Plus Alternatives
With that kind of pricing and packaging, it is hard to find worthy alternatives for Fire HD 10 and HD 10 Plus tablets in 2021. We can say that if you can stretch your budget by a bit, it makes a lot more sense to buy the HD 10 Plus (2021) over the standard variant.
