ASUS ZenPad 10 Z301MFL: Specs, Comparison and More
The ASUS ZenPad 10 Z301MFL is the higher end brother of the ZenPad 10 Z301ML. ASUS announced both Android tablets at Computex 2017 in Taipei. Even though both are very similar, there are a couple of differences. The most important one is the display. While the Z301ML only offers an HD resolution, the Z301MFL has a nicer full HD display. You can get them with LTE 4G and an optional keyboard dock.
ASUS ZenPad 10 Z301MFL Highlights
- 10.1-inch fullHD display
- Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box
- LTE 4G is included at no extra charge
- Optional keyboard dock
ASUS ZenPad 10 Z301MFL Design
The design of the ASUS ZenPad 10 Z301MFL is almost identical to the two previous versions. Even though the body is made out of plastic it doesn‘t feel cheap. In fact I quite liked the build quality when I played with it at Computex.
On the back there‘s no leather texture anymore. Instead ASUS switched to a kind of fabrics texture. That feels nice in your hands and you don‘t see fingerprints. If you‘re looking for a super thin tablet, the ZenPad 10 Z301MFL is not for you. It is not the thickest with just over 8 millimeters but not really thin either. With around 490 grams it‘s light enough though.
On the front is a 2-megapixel camera while the main camera on the back offers 5 megapixel. ASUS is even giving us an LED flash. There are two speakers with DTS-HD premium sound, a USB type C port and a microSD card slot. Obviously, there‘s a 3.5 millimeter audio jack as well.
ASUS ZenPad 10 Z301MFL Display and Hardware
As I mentioned earlier, the ASUS ZenPad 10 Z301MFL has a 10.1-inch display with a full HD resolution. That means we‘re getting 1920 x 1200 pixel which is a lot more than the HD resolution of previous versions. It‘s an IPS panel with nice viewing angles, decent brightness and good color reproduction.
Under the hood runs a 1.4GHz MediaTek MT8735A quad-core processor. It is certainly not the fastest chip out there but should be good enough for most things. Yes, even some gaming. Other hardware specs include 3GB of RAM and an internal storage with a capacity of 32GB. That‘s another major difference to the Z301ML. This one only has 2GB of memory and 16GB of internal storage.
As of right now, ASUS is selling the ZenPad 10 Z301MFL with WiFi and 4G only. I‘m not sure if they‘ll ever sell a WiFi only version of this tablet. Well, we‘ll see. Take a look at the full specifications:

Android 7.0 Nougat and ZenUI
What about software? Actually the ASUS ZenPad 10 Z301MFL is the first tablet from ASUS to run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. They are releasing a software update for the ZenPad 3S 10, so let‘s hope we‘ll get updates in the future as well.
As you might expect from the Taiwanese manufacturer, the ZenUI is running on top of Android 7. That‘s the own interface from ASUS. I quite like it but it does customize Nougat very heavily. That‘s not too bad though because you can customize it yourself quite a bit too.
There are a couple of apps preinstalled. One of them is SuperNote, the notes app that ASUS has been shipping for a couple of years now. Usually their apps are alright, nothing too special, but not bad either.
