FNF iFive Mini 4S Specifications, Comparisons & What You Should Know
The FNF iFive Mini 4S is a very inexpensive tablet from China. Its highlights are a high resolution 7.9-inch screen, a solid Rockchip processor and a decent build quality. While it costs under 100 US Dollars, it has the same 2048 x 1536 resolution as the iPad Mini and other higher end tablets like the ASUS ZenPad 3S 8.0. One of its few downsides are a weak battery and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. I don’t think it’ll ever get an update.
Highlights
- Great high-resolution 7.9-inch screen
- Decent build quality
- Good performance
- Vanilla Android
- Very inexpensive
FNF iFive Mini 4S: The Basics
The FNF iFive Mini 4S looks a bit like an iPad Mini clone. While the bezel is indeed made out of metal, the back is plastic. I reviewed it already and it actually does not feel as cheap as you might expect. Full metal bodies like the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 feel higher end though.
One major highlight is the 7.9-inch screen. It’s an IPS panel with a very high resolution of 2048 x 1536. At this price, we usually get an HD resolution only. So even though it costs roughly the same, the resolution is higher than the one of the Amazon Fire HD 8. While the display is fully laminated, it does not feature any kind of Gorilla Glass. Instead, FNF pre-applied a screen protector.
Inside the 7-millimeter thin body sits a Rockchip RK3288 quad-core processor. All four cores are clocked at 1.6 GHz. We’re also getting 2GB of RAM and a 32GB internal storage. Other hardware features include 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel cameras, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth.
As I mentioned earlier, on the FNF iFive Mini 4S runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This is certainly not the newest version of Android. I don’t think that there will ever be an update. But, during my review, I actually didn’t mind Marshmallow too much. They did not customize the interface at all. So it’s basically vanilla Android, which is great. As usual, you can install any app using the Google Play Store.

Availability and Price
It seems like the FNF iFive Mini 4S is sold in China only. That does not have to be a deal breaker though. In fact, it is surprisingly easy to order it over shops that import tablets from China to the world. The shipping time is a bit longer though – well, unless you’re living in China. As I’m writing this, the tablet costs 99.99 US Dollars.
FNF iFive Mini 4S Competitors
Since the FNF iFive Mini 4S offers so much for its price, there are not any real competitors. In this price range, you can check out the Amazon Fire HD 8. It offers a lower resolution and a heavy customized Android though. Tablets like the Lenovo Tab 4 8 and Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 might get you future updates, but they again offer a lower resolution and a much higher price.
A recent alternative is the Chuwi Hi9 Pro which offers a higher-resolution screen and a faster MediaTek Helio X20 processor. Also, it is running Android 8.0 Oreo already.
