The Panasonic Toughbook S1 is a powerful and rugged tablet aimed at hardcore users and enterprises. It has launched in the US and is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor and ratings like IP67 for dust and water resistance, MIL-STD-810H certification, and an extendable battery. With the Toughbook S1, Panasonic seems to be competing with Samsung’s Tab Active series.

The Toughbook S1 is seemingly a great tablet for those who work in harsh conditions or require a device to handle enterprise-level apps and programs. The rugged tablet by Panasonic can withstand -20 to 50 degrees Celsius temperatures.

Panasonic Toughbook S1: The Basics

Panasonic Toughbook S1 packs a 7-inch WXGA display with a resolution of 800×1,280 pixels. The tablet supports multiple touch modes and 10-point capacitive multi-touch alongside anti-reflective (AR) screen treatment. An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor powers it clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 65GB of internal storage.

The tablet enables storage expansion of up 2GB via SD card, up to 32GB via SDHC, and up to 64GB via SDXC. It ships with Android 10. For optics, the tablet sports a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. 

A 3,200mAh battery backs the Toughbook S1 with up to 8 hours of battery backup on a single charge. Users can also opt for a battery power extension of up to 5,580mAh and can offer up to 14 hours of backup on a single charge.

The Toughbook S1 supports connectivity options such as Qualcomm WCN3990 Wi-Fi, 4G, USB Type-C, NFC, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also a docking connector featuring an additional USB Type-A port for charging. It also includes a slew of sensors such as a digital compass, accelerometer, gyroscope, and ambient light sensor.
