Teclast P20HD: The Basics

Starting from the design, what you’re getting with the Teclast P20HD is a full metal back that has this brushed finish, further improving the overall looks of the device. Over at the front, you’ve got the standard 16:10 display measuring just over 10 inches. The FHD+ resolution of the screen is quite enough for almost anything you plan to do on your slate. And if you want it to be your entertainment screen, then you’d be pleased to know that the company has included a pair of speakers offering stereo separation along with an audio jack for your wired headphones.

An octa-core Unisoc processor beats under the hood and is paired with 4GB of RAM for your multitasking needs. As for the storage, you’ll get 64GB of onboard storage, which you can expand further by up to 128GB using a microSD card. The company says that the tablet comes preinstalled with Android 10, though it isn’t clear if a custom skin will come running on the top and if the device will be eligible for future Android upgrades. Nevertheless, Android 10 should be good enough, at least for a couple of years down the line.

Coming to the connectivity options, the Teclast P20HD supports 4G LTE and can even handle cellular calls, while it also has the standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antennae. What keeps everything running is a decent 6,000mAh battery that charges over a USB-C connector and supports a 10W adapter. Teclast says that it can last for about 7 hours on a single charge when streaming videos. As for the cameras, you should not expect much as the device packs a basic 5MP sensor on the back and a 2MP one on the front for video calls and taking selfies.

Pricing & Availability

The Teclast P20HD went on sale only recently in China for a price of 799 yuan, which is about 115 USD. At this price, the tablet appears to be an appealing deal for anyone looking for a cheap machine. However, Teclast doesn’t directly sell its products in markets outside China, so the device might be a little hard to get. But you can get it delivered to pretty much any country using AliExpress, which is selling bundles starting from $130 that include a bunch of accessories for the tablet.

Teclast P20HD Alternatives

To be frank, it’d be hard for anyone to find a tablet that matches the P20HD’s specifications and its low price. Still, the only tablet that can give the Teclast offering a tough fight is the Amazon Fire HD 10 (review), which closely matches it in price and is also more readily available in western markets. For just a little less money, you can pick up the newer Fire HD 8 or its Plus sibling, both of which are decent devices in their price range.

The Alldoocube X Neo came out just a few months back, and it packs a lot better internals, though it also costs a bit more. In that territory, you do get a whole lot of other options, like the Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus (review). Samsung’s recent Galaxy Tab A 8.4 also fits the bill, although you’ll have to settle for a smaller 8-inch screen. For 10+ inches of display size, look at the Apple iPad 7 (review) that is a great product, especially if you can grab it at around $250.
