Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro Launched with Powerful Specs and Affordable Pricing
All you need to know about the newly launched Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro tablets.
Following the successful launch of the Pad 5 series in August 2021, Xiaomi has now released two brand new successors to this popular lineup — Xiaomi Pad 6 and its powerful counterpart, Pad 6 Pro. The Xiaomi Pad 6 and Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro features a cutting-edge, sleek design taken straight from the company’s premier phones – but redesigned to accommodate their larger size. You can find it in three color options: Black, Blue, and Champagne.
Xiaomi held the launch event in China today and unveiled the much-awaited Pad 6 series alongside its devices, Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xiaomi Band 8. Now, without much ado, let’s take a look at what Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro have to offer and do they bring significant improvement over their predecessor, the Pad 5 and Pad 5 Pro.
The Xiaomi Pad 6 offers a fantastic value. Even though it's quite affordable, it offers tons of flagship features like a metal body, a pretty 144Hz display, powerful hardware, and up-to-date software. You can get it with a keyboard and pen - however, some features like a fingerprint scanner are missing.
Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro: Specifications and Features
The Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro feature an 11-inch display with a staggering resolution of 2880 x 1800, resulting in crisp visuals that are comparable to those seen on much larger displays. This display also supports a variable refresh rate of up to 144Hz, making it the perfect choice for gamers and movie enthusiasts who require top-notch graphics quality during their sessions. This display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for added durability against scratches or accidental drops.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi Pad 6 comes powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 870 7nm Mobile Platform, while the Pad 6 Pro gets the powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4nm Mobile Platform. These high-performance chipsets are coupled with up to 12GB of lightning-fast LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage for a seamless user experience.
In the optics department, the Pad 6 gets a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie snapper, while the Pad 6 Pro features a 50MP primary sensor with a 2MP depth sensor and a 20MP front camera. Interestingly, the selfie camera on both tablets is designed to make video calls more dynamic with its auto-tracking feature that follows you as you move.
Both Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro support the same connectivity and multimedia options including Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax and Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C audio, Dolby Atmos, and four speakers, making them ideal for streaming content.
The Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro boasts a more compact 8600 mAh battery compared to the 8840 mAh unit featured in the vanilla Pad 6. However, it is equipped with incredibly efficient 67 W wired charging that can bring it from 0-100% charge in just 62 minutes, whereas the standard Pad 6 has a 33 W charger and takes up to 99 minutes for full charging.
The Mi Pad 6 and Pro feature revolutionary deep hibernation mode, which understands when to turn on or off automatically based on one’s usage of the device. Xiaomi claims it can extend battery life up to “47.9 days”; however, we are familiar with companies often exaggerating these projections – making them difficult to trust in full entirety.
Lastly, it’s all about the accessories – particularly for tablets. Xiaomi has just unveiled an improved version of its detachable keyboard and stylus, so now you’ll be able to get the most out of your device.
This new keyboard has a bigger size of 16% compared to its predecessor and also includes NFC support for effortless file transfers. Additionally, the 2nd-generation touch pen now sports 40% less latency and 150 hours of battery life without compromising durability.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi Pad 6 is now available in China, while the highly-anticipated Pad 6 Pro can be preordered today with a full release date set for April 21.
