Xiaomi’s Kindle Competitor, Duokan Pro II E-reader Now Available Outside China
The Duokan Pro II is now up for purchase via Good e-reader at $299.99. This Kindle competitor by Xiaomi comes powered by a quad-core RK3566 chipset and 2GB of RAM.
After almost a year of launching in China, Xiaomi’s Duokan Pro II e-reader is finally available outside the region via Good e-reader.
The Duokan Pro II is now available for US$299.99 via Good e-Reader. Xiaomi is selling the same model in China for just CNY 1,299 (~$188). Remember that additional shipping charges may apply – amounting to $29.99 – so check out the retailer’s website to see all your options.
Xiaomi’s upgraded e-reader, the Duokan Pro II, is hailed as a Kindle competitor. Xiaomi touts it to have improved response times due to its quad-core RK3566 chipset, with a reported 109% improvement compared to the original model. With better specs and performance boost than before, this device promises an enjoyable reading experience. On the software side of things, the e-reader runs Android 11 with a custom layer on top.
The other specs of this model remain the same as the predecessor, with 2GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. It operates on a 3200 mAh battery that is said to last for up to 6 weeks in standby mode. The e-reader features a 7.8-inch E Ink display with an 1872 x 1404 pixel resolution at 300 PPI density. It promises an optimal reading experience regardless of lighting conditions thanks to the 24 levels of warm and cold light settings available.
Measuring 7mm thin and weighing 250 grams, the Duokan Pro II features a sleek design that makes it easy to carry around. The e-reader supports eBook formats such as EPUB, PDF, TXT, EXCEL, and PPT. It also boasts a user-friendly voice search feature for quick access along with wireless transfer capabilities via WLAN or Bluetooth.
