At its annual developer conference Google I/O 2023, Google unveiled its long-rumored Pixel Tablet. Promising to reimagine the tablet experience, the tech giant seeks to invigorate a stagnant market with its signature software and services. Though teased last fall alongside the Pixel 7 phones, the Pixel Tablet marks Google’s inaugural foray into tablets, a space long dominated by Apple and Samsung.

By leveraging its AI and productivity prowess, Google hopes the Pixel Tablet will deliver an experience that evolves with users’ needs, a compelling alternative to the static offerings of its competitors.

The Pixel tablet comes in three vibrant colors — Porcelain, Hazel, and Teal. With storage options starting at 128GB, the Pixel Tablet is priced at $499 with pre-orders open today in select countries including the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Japan and Australia. Google also includes a complimentary charging dock with the tablet.

The Google Pixel Tablet is a good tablet with a nice design, a good display, and powerful-enough hardware. While it cannot compete with high-end flagships from Apple and Samsung, it can be a very a great choice if you're also looking for a smart display since a speaker dock is included. It's a great Google Assistent tablet.

The Pixel Tablet features a 10.95-inch LCD panel Full-HD+ display featuring 2560×1600 resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate. The panel has a peak brightness of 500 nits and can last up to 12 hours for video streaming. It also supports the USI 2.0 stylus.

It has purposefully designed thick bezels to provide a secure grip and minimize accidental touches. The nearly 11-inch screen puts the tablet in direct competition with Apple’s 10th-generation iPad, appealing to users seeking a tablet-first experience more compact than a laptop. With touch and stylus support, the Pixel Tablet display touts seamless interaction whether web browsing, drawing, or note-taking.

The tablet is equipped with Google’s Tensor G2 processor and a Titan M2 security coprocessor. It comes with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Pixel Tablet has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera in horizontal orientation, which is different from the portrait orientation of the front camera on Apple iPads. It also has an 8MP rear camera, which has a ceramic-like finish. Some customers may be disappointed to know that there is no LED flash.

In addition to its main features, the device also supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, comes with a USB Type-C port, features four speakers and three microphones, and has pogo pins at the back that allow for docking. There’s also a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The wireless dock can serve as a charging station and speaker and can turn the device into a smart display like the Amazon Echo Show. The tablet has a 27-Wh battery that supports 18W charging.

The Pixel Tablet is powered by Android since it’s a Google tablet, probably Android 13 initially. This means you can anticipate Pixel features that are exclusive, whether it is for photography or productivity. Additionally, some Google apps are optimized for this specific form factor.
