The Best Tablets With Fingerprint Sensors: 2018 Edition
While most cheaper tablets do not offer an integrated fingerprint sensor, a lot of higher-end ones do. That includes a lot of Android tablets, some running Windows 10 and all current iPads. With a fingerprint reader you can unlock your device easily without heaving to type in a password every time you want to unlock your tablet. By now, most fingerprint scanners are reliable and fast.
Best Android Tablets With Fingerprint Recognition
Sadly, right now you cannot get really affordable Android tablets with integrated fingerprint sensors. Most high-end and upper-middle-class devices do offer one though. Here are the best ones according to my recent reviews.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S3
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is the best Android tablet right now. It features an integrated fingerprint scanner that is integrated into the home button and works great. However, the Galaxy Tab S3 is one of the most expensive Android tablets out there.
Lenovo Tab4 10 Plus
Even though the Lenovo Tab4 10 Plus is much cheaper, it does offer very nice hardware at its price. And yes, that includes a fingerprint reader right underneath the screen. While it does not support any gestures out of the box, the recognition works great and fast.
Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10
The Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 is a great entertainment tablet and it offers fingerprint recognition as well. Unlike the Lenovo one, you can use gestures with the scanner underneath the screen. The technology seems to be identical with Huawei’s smartphones.
Huawei MediaPad M3
After the Galaxy Tab S3, the Huawei MediaPad M3 is the fastest tablet I reviewed. It is the first 8-inch tablet on this list. Like with the others, the fingerprint reader is placed below the display. Again, it works just like Huawei’s phones and supports gestures.
Lenovo Tab4 8 Plus
While I did not review the Lenovo Tab4 8 Plus, its internal hardware is identical to the Tab4 10 Plus listed above. That includes the fingerprint reader but we are getting an 8-inch screen here.
Best Windows Tablets With Fingerprint Readers
Microsoft started to support fingerprint sensors together with Windows Hello in 2016. The first Windows 10 tablet with this technology was the Huawei MateBook. While there are not that many supporting it out there, you can find some. I am sure we will see more during the course of 2018.
Lenovo MIIX 520
The Lenovo MIIX 520 is one of the first Windows tablet to ship with Intel’s 8th generation Core i5 and Core i7 processors. As you might expect, those chips make it super fast. At the same time, it does feature a fingerprint sensor.
Huawei MateBook E
I mentioned earlier that the Huawei MateBook was the first Windows 10 tablet with a fingerprint scanner and Windows Hello support. Naturally, that goes for the next generation as well. The MateBook E is the refreshed version and you can use your finger to unlock the device.
Apple iPads With Touch ID
Since Apple introduced the first iPad with Touch ID, all of the following ones offer fingerprint recognition build into the home button. Apple might try to implement Face ID in the next generations of iPad Pro models. But, as I said, right now all feature Touch ID so just pick the iPad you prefer.
