Honor Pad 8: The Basics
Honor seems to have had one goal in mind when designing the Pad 8: offer as large a screen as possible for around €350. The Pad 8 has a 12-inch, 2000 x 1200 IPS screen, which, while on the soft side, is perfectly adequate for entertainment and video content. Under the hood, we get an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, the latter of which is nice to see on a budget-friendly device. Honor opted for 128GB of non-expandable storage on the Pad 8, while a 7250 mAh Li-Po battery keeps the Pad 8 running for 6.5 hours in our standardized battery life tests.
This isn’t a premium tablet by any stretch of the imagination, but Honor did at least try to make the Pad 8 feel premium. You get a sleek all-aluminum body here, even if it’s not quite on the level of Apple or Samsung. Sadly, this sleekness extends to the port selection, with no microSD slot or headphone jack present.
The Honor Pad 8 ships with Android 12 and the company doesn’t seem to have plans to update it to Android 13.

Pricing and Availability
As with many Honor tablets, international availability is the Pad 8’s biggest weakness. It’s available directly from Honor in Germany for an MSRP of €349, while the UK MSRP is £269. You can get the Honor Pad 8 at a heavy discount at the time of writing as it’s now superseded by the Honor Pad 9. Unfortunately, the Pad 8 doesn’t seem to be readily available in the US.
Honor Pad 8 Alternatives
The most obvious alternative to the Honor Pad 8 is its successor, the Honor Pad 9. It costs more than the Pad 8 but has improved specs, including a higher-resolution display and faster processor. Otherwise, you can consider the Lenovo Tab P12, which is also pricier but has a much larger 12.7-inch display and better specs all around. If you want a faster tablet and don’t necessarily need a 12-inch display, the Xiaomi Pad 6 is a great choice. It has a smaller 11-inch screen but much better overall performance.
- Affordable large display
- Premium design
- Very good speakers
- Large internal storage
