Honor Pad 9: The Basics
The Honor Pad 9 is an upgrade on its predecessor in every way possible. For one, its slightly larger 12.1-inch display has a much higher 2560 x 1600 resolution, so text and icons are much sharper than on the previous tablet. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 CPU is also a notable upgrade, offering decent mid-range performance. In addition, Honor offers the Pad 9 with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM depending on the storage options: 128GB models have 8GB of RAM, 256GB models have 8GB or 12GB, while the top-end 512GB model comes with 12GB of RAM exclusively. The 8300 mAh Li-Po battery is also an upgrade over its predecessor.
Honor ships the Pad 9 with MagicOS 7.2, based on Android 13. It’s a clean, mostly no-frills take on Android that has some great multi-tasking features. Honor hasn’t outlined its update policy for the Pad 9, but we expect the tablet to receive quarterly security updates like its other tablets.
Like with the Honor Pad X9, Honor offers a Bluetooth keyboard called the Honor Pad 9 index Keyboard. It’s a simple keyboard, but if the Pad X9’s is anything to go by, it should be surprisingly enjoyable to type on.
Pricing and Availability
The Honor Pad 9 is available in some markets, but not all. Not all models are currently available, either, although we expect the situation to improve with time. You can buy the 8GB + 256GB model directly from Honor in Germany for 349€, with the keyboard available at 59.90€ extra. Honor UK sells the 8GB + 256GB model for £299 (or £349 with the keyboard).
Honor Pad 9 Alternatives
The Lenovo Tab P12 is a strong alternative to the Honor Pad 9, with a much larger 12.7-inch screen for even more immersive videos. It has an older CPU, but that shouldn’t be an issue if you only want to watch videos. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is also worth considering: it’s much pricier, but it has better specs and offers a more premium experience overall.

- Premium design
- Very pretty display
- 120Hz support
