Oukitel RT8: The Overview
Oukitel’s RT8 has an 11-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS LCD, with a MediaTek Helio G99 CPU under the hood. Oukitel claims that the RT8 has 12GB of RAM, although that’s split between 6GB of hardware RAM and 6GB of virtual RAM. Storage is 256GB, with a microSD card slot that allows for up to 2TB of storage. The battery, like other rugged tablets, is quite large: in this case, 20000 mAh.
Oukitel has opted for a triple rear camera setup on the RT8. The main shooter is a 48MP Sony unit, with a 20MP night vision camera and a 5MP macro camera alongside it. The front camera setup is more conventional, with a single 32MP camera capable of facial recognition unlock.
Oukitel claims IP68 and IP69K certifications for the RT8. These indicate that the tablet is waterproof up to 1.5 meters, completely dust-proof, and can endure being sprayed with hot (80 degrees Celsius) and high-pressure water. The RT8 also boasts MIL-STD-810H certification, which indicates that it fulfills the US military’s standards for reliability and endurance. Oukitel sells the RT8 with a leather hand strap for easier carrying, but it will also sell an optional alloy bracket that functions as a kickstand.
Finally, the Oukitel RT8 can also accept two nano SIM cards for 4G cellular connectivity. The second nano SIM will take up the microSD card’s slot, so you can either have two SIM cards or one SIM and one microSD card.
The Oukitel RT8 ships with Android 13. Oukitel has not made its update plans clear.
