Doogee R20: The Overview
Doogee’s R20 is a mid-range tablet sporting a 2000 x 1200 IPS LCD (with Widevine L1 certification), powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 CPU. The R20 sports 8GB of RAM complemented by 256GB of storage, the latter of which is expandable by up to 2TB courtesy of a microSDXC card slot. All of this hardware draws power from a larger-than-average 21600 mAh battery, which is much larger than the roughly 8000 to 10000 mAh batteries we see on 10-inch tablets.
But the battery isn’t the only standout feature. The R20’s front and rear cameras are 16MP and 50MP Samsung units, respectively, with much higher pixel counts than the usual 5MP shooters on $300 tablets.
Doogee wraps all of this hardware up in a heavy-duty shell that boasts IP68 and IP69K ratings, meaning the tablet is waterproof up to 1.5 meters, completely dust-proof, and can endure being sprayed with hot (80 degrees Celsius) and high-pressure water. Doogee also claims MIL-STD-810H certification, which ensures a product is tough enough to fit US military standards for reliability and endurance.
The Doogee R20 ships with Android 13, and it’s unclear whether the company plans to roll out any OS updates, nor how long it intends to ship security updates.

Doogee R20 Alternatives
Doogee’s R10 might be a valid alternative since you can now get it for a significantly reduced price. It has similar specs to the R20 but sports a different camera setup and a smaller battery (10800 mAh vs. the R20’s 21600 mAh). You may also want to consider the Blackview Active 8 Pro, another Android 13-powered rugged tablet that hovers around the $300 mark.
Finally, there’s the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 which is also targeted at the same class of users with its metal body and rubber exterior. It has an 8-inch display with an Exynos 1380 processor and 128/256GB of storage plus 6GB or 8GB of RAM.
