Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A series has gained popularity in the affordable tablet market due to its affordability and satisfactory performance. Following the launch of its flagship tablet series, the Galaxy Tab S9, Samsung appears to be preparing to release two new budget tablets. In an interesting development, a live image of the rumored Galaxy Tab A9 has surfaced on the Safety Korea certification website while a Geekbench listing for the Galaxy Tab A9+ also made an appearance. These developments hint at an imminent launch of two new tablets.

Leaker Roland Quandt was the first to reveal this development. Quandt hinted at the Tab A9 in a tweet, suggesting its potential name and referring to the SafetyKorea certification database.

For a quick reminder, Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A8 in the US market earlier this year. Priced at $230, it featured a 10.5-inch screen, a Unisoc Tiger T618 processor, and other notable specifications. In our review, we emphasized the Tab A8’s focus on entertainment, offering a competitive price without compromising on essential features.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 is a cheap entry-level tablet that should get long software updates. It offers a good performance for its price, a metal body, and four good speakers. Sadly, the battery life is not the best and it does not support an active pen.

Delving further into the Safety Korea listing, the Galaxy Tab A9 is classified as a “tablet pc” with the model name SM-X115N (although Quandt mentions other variations with model numbers SM-X110 and SM-X117). Manufacturing information indicates that Guangdong Ruiqin Technology is the manufacturer, and Samsung Electronics is the authorized importer.

The presence of the Galaxy Tab A9’s photo on a certification site naturally leads to speculation about its features, official release schedule, and potential differences from its predecessor, the Tab A8. The exact details are yet to be revealed by Samsung, but we can speculate on a possible announcement in December and release in January based on last year’s timeline.

Based on previous leaks and reports, the dimensions of the Galaxy Tab A9 (2023) are 210.7mm x 124.7mm, with an 8.7-inch display. It is equipped with a 5,100mAh battery, similar to the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. The tablet runs on Android 13 and features Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 5, and a USB Type-C port. According to leaked schematics, it will have a single rear-facing camera.

The Galaxy Tab A9 will be available in both Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + Cellular (LTE) versions. It includes a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack, but it may not have a fingerprint reader. It would be impressive if Samsung equips its upcoming affordable tablet with a Full HD resolution display, considering that the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite has an HD resolution screen.

Although the Galaxy Tab A8 has been praised for its affordability, it has received criticism regarding certain performance and display aspects. It will be interesting to witness whether the forthcoming Galaxy Tab A9 addresses these concerns, potentially enhancing the overall user experience.
