Android 14 Update for Lenovo Tablets: Timeline for Every Device
Here is when tablets from Lenovo will get an update to Android 14 – among them are the Tab P11 Pro Gen 2 and M10 Gen 3 series.
Lenovo has made quite a niche for itself in the tablet market. The brand has made some great moves by launching different tablet lineups catering to entry level, mid-range, and premium segments, but there’s one shortcoming that pushes the brand behind Apple and Samsung, and even Xiaomi. Yes, we are talking about Lenovo’s track record for regular software updates. Well, the good news is that Lenovo has acknowledged the issue and published a dedicated page outlining its update roadmap for its tablets, ranging for P-series to Tab Extreme lineups. The roadmap also defines Android 14 update for Lenovo tablets.
The tablet maker shared the complete timeline of updates including details like the last security update, software at launch, upcoming updates, and more. Some of the tablets have already completed their update cycle like the Tab P10 and Smart Tab P10. You also get details like the end of security update tenure.
In the details below, you will find the term “upgrade plan” and in simpler terms, the “upgrade plan” is like a schedule for updating the software on Lenovo tablets. Every new tablet comes with a certain version of the Android operating system. The upgrade plan tells you when your tablet will get a newer version of Android. For example, if your tablet came with Android 10 out-of-the-box, the upgrade plan might say it will soon get Android 11 or a newer version.

Similarly, the term “Security maintenance ends” refers to the end of the update cycle for the devices. Devices that are marked done in the table below are the ones that have completed their update term and will not be getting any more updates from Lenovo. And the dates with an asterisk means that these are tentative dates and could change depending on the update rollout intensity. One can expect delays.
Please note that the timeline mentioned by Lenovo is to be taken with a pinch of salt as we tried to track down updates on many of the tablets mentioned in the tablet, but could not find any news or report confirming whether the update was actually rolled out within the said dates or not.
If you have one of these tablets, your experience might be different from what’s claimed by Lenovo. We want to hear from you! Share your experiences in the comments to give everyone a better idea of how these updates are happening in real life. By getting input from the community, we can all understand whether the planned timeline by Lenovo is reliable.
Lenovo P-series Tablets Android Update Timeline
Let’s get down the road to track the update timelines for Lenovo’s popular P-series of tablets. Many of these tablets have already been reviewed by us.
As per Lenovo’s official support page, the P-series tablets that are expected to receive Android 14 update are Lenovo Tab P11 Pro (2nd Gen), Tab P11 (2nd gen), and Tab Extreme.
The table below is like a cheat sheet for Lenovo tablets, which tells us about different tablets, what they started with, where they’re going with updates, and when they’ll stop receiving security updates. First up, we’ve got the Lenovo Tab P10 and the Lenovo Smart Tab P10. They started with Android 8 and got upgraded to Android 9 (also known as Android P) on August 1, 2019. Those updates are all done now.
Now, moving on to newer tablets, like the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro. This one started with Android 10 and got upgraded to Android 11 on September 30, 2021. It will keep getting security updates until July 30, 2023.
The regular Lenovo Tab P11 and the 5G version got similar treatment, moving from Android 10 to Android 11. They have different end dates for security updates, though – one is on February 1, 2023, and the other is on July 1, 2023.
Now, the Lenovo Tab P11 Plus and the Tab P12 are set to move up to Android 12. The P11 Plus is expected in late 2022, and the P12 is planned for the second quarter of 2024. They’ll get security updates until November 1, 2023, and June 2027, respectively.
The Tab P12 Pro has a bit more going on. It started with Android 11, and it’s going to Android 12L in late 2022, and then to Android T in late 2023. Security updates for this one will last until November 1, 2024.
Now, there are some second-generation tablets in the mix, like the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro (2nd Gen) and the Tab P11 2nd Gen. They’re eyeing Android 13 in the third quarter of 2023, followed by Android 14. Their security update plans go up until November 30, 2025, and October 30, 2025, respectively.
Lastly, we’ve got the Lenovo Tab Extreme, which runs Android 13 out-of-the-box and plans to hop onto Android 14 in the first quarter of 2024. Security updates for this tablet will continue until March 2027.

We do hope that the company is following up with its claims and has rolled out or plans to roll out future updates accordingly. For what we know so far, Lenovo does not have a clean record when it comes to software updates for its devices. But we are keeping an open mind here and hoping that the stated timeline stands true for every tablet.
