Oppo Pad Air 2 Launched: A Rebranded Version of OnePlus Pad Go
You get the same specs and design as the OnePlus Pad Go, but with a different brand name and no microSD card slot or 3.5mm headphone jack.
After a slew of leaks, the Oppo Pad Air 2 launched in its full glory today. The tablet is the rightful successor to the Oppo Pad Air that debuted in May 2022. For now, Oppo has launched the tablet in China. Before we get into the pricing details and specs of this tablet, here’s a heads up for you, the Oppo Pad Air 2 brings nothing new on the table as it is a rebranded version of the OnePlus Pad Go.
Given its striking resemblance to the OnePlus Pad Go, there are uncertainties about Oppo Pad Air 2’s availability in markets beyond China, particularly in regions where the OnePlus Pad Go is already available, such as India. This potential overlap could create unnecessary competition for both brands. The question remains: Will Oppo simply step back and let OnePlus take the lead? Only time will tell.
Oppo Pad Air 2 Specifications
The Oppo Pad Air 2 retains design elements of the Oppo Pad 2, featuring rounded corners and a centrally positioned rear camera. The back panel boasts a dual-tone finish. The tablet comes with a 11.35-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2408 x 1720 pixels (2.4K) and 260 PPI. The screen gets 90Hz refresh rate, a 180 Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 400 nits.
Powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, coupled with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, the device operates on ColorOS 13.2 based on Android 13. It includes an 8MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. It’s worth noting that the tablet does not feature a MicroSD card slot, which means you won’t be able to expand storage on this one. And you also have to make do without a 3.5mm headphone jack, but you do get Dolby Atmos-supported quad stereo speakers.
Connectivity options include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB Type-C. The tablet is fueled by an 8,000mAh battery and supports a 33W SuperVOOC charging.
Pricing
The Oppo Pad Air 2 will be up for grabs in China on November 25, 2023. The tablet will be available in Space Gray and Streamer Silver color variants. The tablet offers three different configurations: The 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version is priced at ¥1,299 (around $185), the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model at ¥1,499 (around $210), and the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option at ¥1,699 (approx. $240).
