Sports fans all around the world want to stay updated with their favorite sports 24/7. Right from football to cricket, the most followed sports have viewers looking for the best free sports streaming apps for their iPads or Android tablets. Good news is that there are many free sports streaming apps that can bring the action directly to your tablet, letting you cheer on your favorite teams and athletes without subscribing to expensive cable packages.

I have compiled a list of some of the best apps that allow you to watch sports for free. Among my favorite free sports streaming apps on the list are ESPN, SonyLIV, 365 Scores, Yahoo Sports, Show Sports, and more. On these apps you can stream sports like cricket, football (soccer), basketball, baseball, etc.

In this guide, we bring you the best sports streaming apps that will let you enjoy your favorite sport on your tablet for free. However, it’s important to remember that “free” often comes with its own set of pros and cons:

  • Limited content: Free apps might not offer the same extensive coverage as paid subscriptions. Don’t expect to stream premier leagues without paying.
  • Ads and interruptions: Ads can disrupt your viewing experience.
  • Geo-restrictions: Some channels might be unavailable in your region and would require you to use a VPN to access them.
  • Legalities: Double-check the legality of streaming content in your area.

Best Free Sports Streaming Apps for Android & iOS

ESPN

ESPN is a well-known and trustworthy name in the world of sports. I have fond memories of watching it on cable TV during the 90s. Nowadays, there is also a mobile app available that allows you to stream some sports matches for free. However, please note that the availability of free content is limited and you may not get to stream the most popular matches for free. Nonetheless, you can still access additional features for free, such as live snippets that provide minute-by-minute updates of the match and scores. The app also offers a news section to keep you informed about all the small and big events within a match, and you can even stream match highlights for free.

ESPN

ESPN lets you stream multiple sports, including football (aka soccer), tennis, cricket, and more. Please be aware that the free content is ad-supported, so you may encounter some unwanted ads while streaming.

Compared to paid subscriptions, the free live streaming options are very few on ESPN but still, you will get a good dose of popular sports. The app only covers major leagues and popular sports, so you won’t get your regional sports here. Expect ad breaks to disrupt your viewing experience.

SonyLIV

If you’re looking for a way to watch live sports for free on your Android tablet, SonyLIV is a great option to consider. It is one of the most popular OTT apps in India but can be accessed in other locations too via VPN.

Sony LIV

SonyLIV app features live matches from around the world, including India’s tour of England 2021, the NZ Women Tour of England 2021-1st ODI, and more. While it does have some in-app purchases and ads, you can still enjoy a variety of sports news, scores, and live results.

In addition to live sports, SonyLIV also offers a variety of other content such as web series, TV shows, movies, and more. But remember, you can only watch the live matches with ads for free. You will need to know the schedule of your favorite sports matches and play on the app.

365 Scores

I enjoyed using 365 Scores because it offers a wide variety of sports that you can stream, including football, tennis, basketball, and more. You can get info and live scores of major competitions like UEFA Champions League, English Premier League, Spanish LaLiga; as well as the NBA, NFL, NHL, Wimbledon.

The app allows you to watch highlights of matches and receive live notifications for speedy score updates on your tablet. The interface is user-friendly, but it’s worth noting that there may be some latency while watching live matches. This means that you might see the goal a minute or two after it happened. This could be disappointing for some sports fans, but considering the app is free, you can’t expect the best service.

365 scores

One feature that particularly stood out to me was the score table for each sport. You can customize the homepage according to your preferred sports and the app will show you the latest scores in a table format. Additionally, you can get the latest news about your favorite sport on this app.

I liked the UI of this app and the additional tabular score feature. The app includes many different sports on its platform. It’s great for sports lovers who delve into different types of sports and want to stay updated with scores and insights all in one place.

The live streaming faces latency issues by the difference of a few minutes. This could be a deal breaker for thrill-chasing sports lovers. Sometimes you get bombarded with ads even during the match. This dents the overall experience.

YipTV

YipTV is another good app for streaming your favorite sports. The app has a freemium subscription model where you get access to a slew of live sports channels and can live stream popular matches. Of course, nothing comes for free as you make up for the free access with lots of ads.

YipTV

Offering over 100 live TV channels that span from sports to entertainment to news, this platform includes news and sports channels including EuroNews, Bloomberg, Flight Network, BelN Sports, and more.

I liked the app UI as well. Although it is not without faults, you still get a decent experience on the app. You can also use Chromecast feature to stream the live matches from your phone or tablet on TV. Again, I would like to remind you that you can only catch live sports events on channels and not the recordings at your chosen time.

Yahoo Sports

If you’re a sports enthusiast who loves to stay updated on all the latest scores, results, and news about your favorite teams and athletes, then you might find Yahoo Sports to be a great app for your Android tablet. With this app, you can watch live sports games, including NFL and NBA matches, and get real-time updates on the games you’re interested in, such as basketball, baseball, football, and more.

yahoo sports

In addition to live sports coverage, Yahoo Sports also provides schedules and news about your favorite teams and players. You can even set up alerts for your preferred sports events or teams and receive notifications when they’re about to start. For free sports streaming, you can count on Yahoo Sports. Of course, don’t expect to get full access to major leagues in real-time but it will surely show the highlights and more.

Show Sport

Show Sport TV is yet another live sports streaming app to consider when looking for a free sports streaming app for Android. The app offers access to games from any country and streams popular channels like WWE Network and Fox Sports. You can watch the live sports events in real-time on this app. The video quality is notched up to HD on this app. The app also requires no registration to tune into your favorite match.

Show Sports

The app also has a comment section where you can interact with fans by commenting on games or chatting during the live match. You can also enable notifications to get notified when your favorite sport is nearing its live match. Now, don’t expect seamless UI on this app but it still does not disappoint and get you by without any hiccups.

AOS TV

The AOS TV is a free live TV app for Android devices. With over 1,000 channels available, you can watch live TV from all around the world, including the UK, US, India, Europe, South America, Australia, and Canada.

AOS TV

I found the app’s interface user-friendly, with a simple search function that allows you to find your favorite channel quickly. If one link is not working, you can easily switch to another. Plus, you can stream live sports from the US, UK, India, Europe, Brazil, Argentina, and more.

As with the other apps on the list, you get to stream live matches and sports events for free. Do not expect to get access to match highlights or recording on the app.

Bleacher Report Live

I came across Bleacher Report Live, a streaming service that provides both free and paid access to some of the best sports programs. It offers live streams, free replays, and highlights for popular sports events such as UEFA, Europa Leagues, NBA, and more. The platform is user-friendly and you can find most of the programming behind a paywall, with a few of the live shows available for free.

Although the service is relatively new, it still has a decent collection of free sports events. Bleacher Report Live is exclusively available in the US and features popular wrestling events like AEW and other programs for free. However, if you are outside the US, you can use a VPN to get this app and easily stream your favorite sports for free.

Live NetTV

This application has a simple interface and focuses on two sports: cricket and football. If you’re a fan of either or both of these, you’ll enjoy this app as it allows you to easily stream live matches. However, you’ll encounter many ads before you can stream any matches, and even in-between matches, you’ll face intrusive ads. But since the content is free, it’s understandable that app developers must generate revenue. I don’t like flashy streaming apps so this one turned out to be quite a preferred one for me as it was easy to quickly navigate and start streaming what I want.

livenet TV

The video quality of these matches is decent, but don’t expect 4K resolution. Keep in mind that this app consumes a significant amount of data for streaming, so it’s recommended to use it over WiFi.

We like that the app has a very simple UI and lets you quickly navigate to your favorite sport. Enough content for football and cricket lovers: The app presents enough live tournaments for football and cricket lovers. The only downside is that there are too many ads. You have to sit through many ads before streaming and in between streaming too. Also, the app consumes a lot of data for streaming. Be careful while using mobile data to stream matches on it.

Before You Go
