Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 May Come Powered by MediaTek Hello G99 SoC
Another day, another leak for the Galaxy Tab A9 tablet. The budget tablet is expected to launch soon alongside a “plus” variant.
Samsung recently introduced its flagship tablets in the Galaxy Tab S9 series and is now prepping to release a new budget tablet under the Galaxy A-series. The upcoming tablet, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9, is expected to provide a more affordable option for consumers who are looking for a tablet with decent features.
The Galaxy Tab A9 is set to launch soon in India, and it has been spotted on the BIS certification website ahead of its official release. Additionally, there has been a recent leak of information regarding the chipset that will power the tablet.
A new report suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 will be equipped with the MediaTek Helio G99 processor, which is expected to offer significantly better performance than the MediaTek MT8768 (aka Helio P22T chipset) that powers the Galaxy A7 tablet.
The MediaTek Helio G99 chipset is manufactured using TSMC’s 6nm process. The company claims that it provides excellent gaming performance throughout the day, along with support for high-quality cameras, smooth displays, seamless streaming, and connectivity. The SoC features two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz, along with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
According to the BIS Certification listing, the Tab A9 has a model number SM-X115 and will provide support for 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and FM. The device is equipped with a 5,100mAh battery and comes with 15W fast charging support.
Samsung is likely working on a 5G-enabled Galaxy Tab A9 Plus, but the company hasn’t confirmed its existence or given any indication of its price.
The Tab A9 series is a budget tablet that is expected to be released in Q4 of this year. Thanks to certifications from the FCC, the Wi-Fi Alliance, the Bluetooth SIG, SafetyKorea, and the Indian BIS, we have some of the specs available. Additionally, there’s also a Geekbench run to provide further details along with leaked live images.
The leak from the SafetyKorea certification shows an image that displays the front of a tablet. Unfortunately, not much can be identified from the picture except for the front-facing camera. The model number of the tablet is SM-X115N, which is predicted to be the upcoming Galaxy Tab A9. Additionally, another model number – SM-X216B – has been discovered and is expected to be the Galaxy Tab A9+ variant.
The Tab A9 is expected to come packed with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 15W charging, measuring 210.7mm in length and 124.7mm in width. On the back, it will sport a single camera, while a 3.5mm audio jack, LTE, GPS, and Bluetooth will be available as well.
After looking at the Galaxy Tab A9+ Geekbench score, it seems like it will be equipped with a Snapdragon 695 chip and Adreno 619 graphics. It will have 4GB of RAM and most likely run Android 13 with OneUI 5.1.
