Apple is planning to hold an event in the first half of next year to unveil the next generation of iPhone 15 and Apple Watch models. These devices are expected to come with significant improvements compared to the current models. While the iPhone 15 series and the Apple Watch Ultra are generating a lot of excitement, there are also rumors that Apple is developing an upgraded iPad mini 7, which could be released as early as next month.

ShrimpApplePro, a leaker, recently shared an abundance of information regarding Apple’s upcoming ventures in a series of tweets. As per the leaks, Apple has plans for “at least one new iPad,” possibly referring to the highly anticipated iPad mini 7, which is expected to launch later this year.

Apple’s upcoming release, the iPad mini 7, is expected to offer minimal changes in terms of design. However, internal upgrades are anticipated, particularly with the introduction of a new A-series chip. Last year, Apple introduced the iPad mini 6 featuring the A15 Bionic chip, which was also utilized in the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro models. This year, the A17 Bionic chip will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro models, while the standard models will incorporate the A16 Bionic chip. As of now, it remains uncertain which chip Apple will opt for with the iPad mini 7.

Along with internals, Apple might also upgrade the camera hardware in the upcoming iPad mini 7. Exciting features that might be included are a Photonic Engine, marking a first for the iPad, along with ProRes video, stereo recording, and more. However, the specific features that will make their way to the iPad mini 7 have not been finalized. The leaker has promised to reveal more details in the days to come.

The most recent iPad Pro models introduced connectivity enhancements such as Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, marking their debut on the iPad. It is highly probable that these features will be integrated into the iPad mini by 2024. Additionally, there is a potential for the Apple Pencil hover feature, which is currently exclusive to the iPad Pro, to be included in the next version of the iPad mini. However, specific details about the upcoming device are currently limited.

iPad Mini 7 expected release date

The release date of the iPad mini 7 remains uncertain as the leaker did not provide a specific timeframe. However, there is a possibility that the company might take advantage of the opportunity next month. It is worth noting that Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that the company has plans to hold two events later this year. The September event will focus on unveiling the iPhone 15 lineup and the Apple Watch Series 9, while a separate event, potentially in October, will be dedicated to introducing new M3 Macs.

Instead of waiting until next month, the company might unveil the new iPad mini 7 alongside the M3 Macs. However, there is limited information available at this stage. Rest assured, we will keep you updated with the latest news, so stay tuned.
