Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite test

UPDATE: According to the latest report by SamMobile, it seems that Samsung is currently testing the Android 14 update for the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. The company is internally testing a new software update with firmware version T225XXU4DWI4. Currently, the latest publicly available software version for the tablet is One UI 5.1.1, while the firmware version is T225XXU4CWI2.

Based on the firmware version being tested, it is pointed out by SamMobile that the fourth letter from the right side is “D”, indicates a newer version than the current firmware’s “C”. This suggests a significant update, and since there are no new software releases between One UI 5.1.1 and One UI 6.0, it is suspected that Samsung is testing the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite with One UI 6, which is based on Android 14.

The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite by Samsung has received the One UI 5.1.1 update, which was previously rolled out to other foldable smartphones and tablets over a month ago. With this update, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite now boasts of several new and enhanced multitasking and productivity features.

One UI 5.1.1 update for Tab A7 Lite rolling out in Europe

The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite has received the One UI 5.1.1 update that is based on Android 13 and has a firmware version of T225XXU4CWI2. This update has been released in Europe and comes with the August 2023 security patch which addresses multiple security issues. It is a substantial update, with a download size of more than 1GB, so it is advisable to use a stable Wi-Fi network when downloading it.

If you own a Galaxy Tab A7 Lite (review) and reside in Europe, you can easily check for the latest One UI 5.1.1 update. Go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install to begin downloading the update.

With the One UI 5.1.1 update, you can use a new feature that allows you to select multiple images from one app or window by using a two-hand drag-and-drop gesture. Simply drag the images and drop them into another app or window. Samsung Internet now offers the ability to move the bookmarks bar and taskbar to the bottom of the screen. Additionally, it’s possible to change modes directly from the tablet’s lock screen.

The new update also lets you view up to four of your most recent apps on the taskbar. Additionally, the recent apps menu displays the window state of all recent apps. This update also allows for private file sharing with the option to set an expiration window for shared files. If necessary, you can cancel shares or prevent others from downloading files you have shared.

If you use Quick Share to send files to someone, they will still receive those files even if they leave the Wi-Fi network range. In the Gallery app, it is now easier to apply image effects and you can even copy and paste edits to multiple images. If your tablet runs low on storage space while downloading system updates, it may temporarily delete the cache and other files to make room for the update.

To recall, Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite tablet in May 2021. The tablet features an 8.7-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1340×800 pixels. Powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P22T processor, it also has 3GB of RAM. The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is equipped with a 5100mAh battery. It has an 8MP rear camera and 2MP selfie camera and packs 32GB of internal storage, expandable up to 1TB via microSD card.
