CES 2024: Lenovo Launches ThinkBook Plus Gen5 Hybrid That’s Both Windows PC & Android Tablet!
Lenovo is trying to revolutionise the 2-in-1 laptop with this hybrid device that runs on Windows when used in laptop mode and switches to Android when used in tablet mode.

At the CES 2024, Lenovo seems to be on a roll with tablet launches. The company unveiled the Tab M11 and now we are getting to see a new ThinkBook Plus Gen5 Hybrid 2-in-1 laptop from Lenovo. This is not your regular 2in1 laptop tablet, but a hybrid device that runs on both Android and Windows operating systems! You get windows interface when using it in laptop mode and it quickly turns to Android when using it in tablet mode.
It’s like having two gadgets in one – use it as a Windows PC or detach the display for a Windows PC connected to an external monitor and an independent Android tablet. In laptop mode, the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen5 Hybrid operates as a powerful Windows laptop with an Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD storage, and a 75WHr battery, all neatly packed into the base. When you detach the display, the base can be connected to an external monitor, transforming it into a fully functional PC.

The display module that works as a standalone tablet comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, boasting 12GB of RAM, and offering a generous 256GB of onboard storage. Once separated from the Hybrid station, you get a 14inch 2.8K OLED display that can work as a fully functional Android tablet, complete with a substantial 38WHr battery.
In tablet mode, the device weighs around 1.7 pounds that’s roughly a bit heavier than iPad Pro 12.9-inches. Ideally, this should be used with a kickstand as one might feel tired of holding it with hands after some time.
As a tablet enthusiast, I think this is a big step from Lenovo. A few years back it would have been hard to imagine a device like this, right? But seeing it out and about at the CES 2024, I’m excited to see how it works in real time and how seamlessly it can shift between two operating systems. Another stand out point is the base being a standalone PC that can be connected to a monitor. All in all, this seems to be a complete device for someone who wants the best of all worlds i.e. a tablet, laptop, and a PC!
The ThinkBook Plus Gen5 Hybrid is priced at a whopping $1,999 and will be up for sale in the Q2 of 2024.
