Barnes & Noble has teamed up with Lenovo to bring out its latest Android-powered Nook tablet with a 10-inch screen. The tablet also features Google Kids Space. The latest tablet is a successor to the Nook 10.1-inch tablet that debuted in 2018.

The latest Nook 10-inch Android tablet is an affordable offering by the brand. It is also a significant upgrade over the previous model in terms of design, size, and battery. What’s interesting is the affordable price tag of $130.

Under the hood, the new Nook tablet runs Android (unspecified version for now) and packs an HD IPS screen with TÜV Rheinland-certified eye protection that’s touted to lower the harmful blue light that emits from the screen.

Outlook-wise, the latest Nook tablet looks sleeker than its predecessor, with an 85% of screen-to-body ratio, total metal design, and thin bezels. One thing to note here is that while the tablet manages to look all sleek in the vertical position, but in landscape mode, it will still look a bit thick with a thicker top and bottom bezels.

The brand earlier collaborated with Samsung for its older tablet, but the deal got called off, citing dismal sales. B&N had to cancel a long-term contract that included manufacturing over 1 million units. Samsung was supposed to release three Galaxy Tabs with Nook branding. B&N suffered a major loss by calling off the deal. After Samsung, the brand worked with another OEM from China, but it did not work out. So, now all eyes are on Lenovo. Maybe this time, Nook could get lucky with the right branding.

In a statement, Susan McCulloch, Senior Director, Barnes & Noble Press, and NOOK Operations said:

We are thrilled to partner with Lenovo for the new NOOK 10” HD Tablet. This new NOOK is great for reading, playing games, or watching video. It will hit stores just in time for spring and it makes a wonderful gift for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or graduations.”

Powering the Nook is an octa-core 2.3GHz chipset paired with 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). The battery is rated up to 10 hours on a single charge. The brand touts the battery to deliver up to 10 hours of output on a single charge.

We are yet to get confirmed information regarding camera specs, but the company has teased dual-audio speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

The tablet comes pre-installed with the Nook app for books, magazines, and newspapers. It also features Google’s custom launcher for families, called Kids Space. Made by Lenovo, the Nook 10-inch HD Tablet starts at $130 and will be up for sale starting April from Barnes & Noble.

Going by the specs and pricing, we can say that the latest Nook tablet is one of the cheapest that you can get at that price. It is $20 cheaper than Amazon Fire HD 10.
