Lenovo Preps To Launch First Android Tablet With Flagship Chipset
The upcoming Yoga Tab 3 Pro is going to be the first flagship tablet by the brand. It is expected to pack a slew of high-end specs, including a powerful chipset.
After Apple and Samsung, Lenovo is one of the prominent brands showing up on the tablet market. The brand had earlier launched a quirky new tablet called the Yoga Tab 3 Pro, featuring an in-built projector. And now, as per a new leak, we might soon get a flagship tablet from Lenovo that will come powered by a powerful chipset.
Lenovo’s Notebook Product Manager Lin Lin recently shared a screenshot on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. The screenshot shows the ‘Settings’ menu of an upcoming tablet by the company.
Going by the screenshot, we can gauge that the device packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It runs Android 11-based ZUI 12.5.
There also lies a probability that the rumoured tablet could carry a model number YT-K606F that recently showed up on Geekbench.
The same listing from Geekbench suggests that the upcoming Lenovo tablet could feature a chipset codenamed “Kona,” which could denote Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 865+, or Snapdragon 870 chipsets.
Not just Geekbench, a tablet with the same model number also showed up on Google Play Console’s list featuring Certified Android devices. In the listing, the device was named Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 ROW (Rest of World).
The same listing also suggested that the tablet could pack a Qualcomm SDM855 chipset. This creates some confusion because there is a probability for the upcoming tablet to feature either Snapdragon 855, 855+, or the rumored SD860 chipset.
From Mid-range To Flagship
To recall, Lenovo launched the Tab P11 Pro tablet in 2020. Although not a flagship, this tablet came with decent specs suiting a mid-range that it is. The Tab P11 Pro came powered by a Snapdragon 730G processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that could expand up to 256GB via a microSD card.
The Tab P11 Pro packs an 11.5-inch OLED screen at 2560×1600 pixels resolution with HDR10 support and Dolby Vision. It also boasts Dolby Atmos support and a quad-speaker system by JBL. Lenovo bundled a keyboard case with the tablet, which made it one of the ideal picks for those who want a productive device.
It carried a price tag of $499 in the US. We can expect the upcoming flagship tablet to launch at higher pricing than the Tab P11 Pro.
