• Best OLED tablet overall: Apple iPad Pro 11″ and 13″ (on Amazon*). Last year’s iPad Pros still take the crown for the overall best tablets with an OLED display. Coming in at either 13’’ diagonally or 11’’, these tablets combine the overpowered M4 processor with excellent speakers and a tandem-OLED panel. That’s two OLED panels stacked on top of each other for maximum brightness. They have a 120HZ refresh rate and can easily run any mobile game or demanding task.
• Best Android tablet with AMOLED: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra (on Amazon*). The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is the biggest tablet out there with a ridiculous 14.6’’ AMOLED 120HZ display. The display has an anti-reflection coating and looks super vibrant, the build is robust and the speakers are top notch. The S10 Ultra is also super thin and light, and includes Samsung’s excellent S-Pen as a package deal.
• Best 12-Inch Android tablet with AMOLED: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ (on Amazon*). The Galaxy Tab S10+ is almost the same tablet as the Ultra, just a bit cheaper and smaller at 12.4’’. Although it’s still massive, this tablet provides a more reasonable size for better portability. Both Galaxy Tabs will get a lengthy 7 years of Android updates.
• Best Windows tablet with OLED: Microsoft Surface Pro 11 (on Amazon*). The Surface Pro 11 is the only Windows tablet that made the cut. This tablet has a 13’’, 120Hz OLED display and runs the ARM version of Windows thanks to its Snapdragon chip. It’s got world class speakers and even a kickstand. Careful: There’s also an LCD version.
• Best affordable tablet with OLED: Honor MagicPad 2 (on Amazon*). Like the iPad Pro, the Honor MagicPad 2 has a super bright tandem OLED display, but can be found for much cheaper – if you live outside the US, that is. Of course, the lower price means that Honor had to cut corners where they could. The performance isn’t flagship level, and this tablet won’t receive much software support. Not that it matters if you’re only watching movies and series on it; for that, the 12.3’’ Honor MagicPad 2 is perfect.
• Best 11″ Android tablet with AMOLED: Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 (on Amazon*). Samsung’s older Galaxy Tab S9 has a great 11’’ AMOLED display and more importantly a great price. In some regions, it costs as little as $450 and does everything the Honor MagicPad 2 does without sacrificing on software support. Like the Tab S10s, this tablet is robust, sleek and comes with the S-Pen.

Apple iPad Pro 11″ and 13″: The Best Overall

The 2024 iPad Pro comes in two flavors: a relatively compact 11‑inch model and a larger 13‑inch version. Both sport Apple’s new Tandem OLED setup—a pair of OLED panels laminated together—that deliver up to 1,600 nits peak brightness in HDR and around 1,000 nits in SDR, with 120 Hz ProMotion support to keep animations smooth and responsive. These displays are also super color accurate, making them suited for professionals and artists.

The 11″ model measures about 247.6 × 178.5 × 5.1 mm and weighs just over a pound, while the 13″ variant stretches to around 285 × 200 × 5.1 mm and is slightly heavier. The aluminium frame is not just robust, but also feels premium to the touch. In general, these are just amazing looking and feeling tablets.

Inside, both are powered by Apple’s M4 chip, combining high-end CPU cores and a ten-core GPU. This setup easily handles demanding creative and productivity tools. Battery life is decent, easily lasting a full workday with mixed use. The catch? You’ll need to pay more for the Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard, which are not included in the box.

Although Apple doesn’t make any promises about software support, we expect the tablets to receive at least 7 years of updates, and possibly security patches for even longer.

Compared to Android flagships like the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, the iPad Pro brings more raw power and a higher display brightness and color accuracy. But it also locks you into iPadOS, which—even though polished—doesn’t offer the full flexibility of a desktop OS. If portability is important, the 11″ is your friend.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra & S10+: Best Android Tablets With AMOLED

Samsung’s Tab S10 Ultra and S10+ are ambitious flagships, both featuring Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, anti-reflective coatings, and punchy color. The S10+ comes with a 12.4‑inch panel at 2800 × 1752 resolution, while the Ultra pushes a 14.6‑inch 2960 × 1848 panel with around 239 ppi and up to 930 nits peak brightness.

The Ultra is super thin—just 5.4 mm—and weighs around 718 g despite its mammoth size. Both are paired with incredible speakers and have a 16:10 aspect ratio, making them great for watching video content.

Performance comes via the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ , paired with up to 12 or 16 GB RAM and 1 TB UFS storage. They both include the S Pen right out of the box, plus AI‑powered features like note sketch-to-image and live translation. The Ultra’s 11,200 mAh battery easily lasts you 13 hours of video playback, while the S10+’s battery is slightly smaller at around 10,090 mAh. Both charge at up to 45 W and offer IP68 water resistance and Wi‑Fi 7 support.

If you’re debating between the two: the Ultra wins hands down on display size, brightness, and immersive appeal. It also gives slightly better battery life and the speakers sound richer. But if portability or desk space is a concern, the S10+ offers much of the same in a more manageable form factor.

Compared to the iPad Pro, these Samsung tablets give you a more open Android experience, included stylus, and great value in productivity—even if their brightness and performance fall a bit short of Apple’s offerings. Software support is about the same as Apple, with Samsung promising 7 years of Android updates.

Microsoft Surface Pro 11: Best Windows Tablet With OLED Option

The Surface Pro 11 is a 13‑inch (3:2 aspect) tablet running Windows 11 on ARM or Intel Ultra chips, with an OLED option that steps up to 2880 × 1920 resolution at 266 ppi. It supports a 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision IQ, and runs at around 600 nits typical brightness and up to 900 nits in HDR. The device measures 287 × 209 × 9.3 mm and weighs about 895 g—compact yet sturdy.

Under the hood, choices include the Snapdragon X Elite or Intel Core Ultra 7. With ARM, you’re getting long battery life—up to 14 hours of video playback or around 10 hours of web usage over Wi‑Fi, while Windows offers full desktop flexibility. It has two USB‑C ports supporting DisplayPort 2.1, and there’s also a Surface Connect port. Like most tablets, the pen and keyboard are sold separately, which bumps up the overall cost even more.

We find the speakers on the Surface Pro 11 on par with flagships from Apple and Samsung, and the 2k webcam is excellent for video calls or even selfies. The design is pretty, but the cutouts for cooling fans feel a bit more clumsy.

If you need a Windows PC in tablet form, this is a solid pick. It’s more flexible than an iPad or Android slate, but software compatibility on ARM can be hit or miss, and you pay extra for key accessories. Performance is also often lackluster due to emulation on the Snapdragon variant, and the Intel version costs a minimum of $2,000. It’s only really worth it if you can’t live without Windows.

Honor MagicPad 2: Best Affordable Tablet With OLED

Honor’s MagicPad 2 brings a 12.3‑inch OLED screen with 3K resolution and a fluid 144 Hz refresh rate. It hits up to 1,600 nits peak brightness and supports HDR10 and IMAX Enhanced content. This display easily rivals what Apple and Samsung offer.

Inside is a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, paired with a base 8GB of ram and 256GB storage, but up to 16GB and 1TB. The 10,050 mAh battery supports 66 W fast charging and the MagicPad performs well in game benchmarks, including Fortnite at max settings with 60 fps. The tablet also has eight speakers tuned for spatial sound, making media playback feel immersive.

However, it cuts a few corners: only USB 2.0 speeds, no video out via USB‑C, and it lacks GPS, NFC or cellular support. Software upgrades are limited—only one major Android version and three years of security patches. The build isn’t the most premium with a plasticky back.

When compared to the Galaxy Tab S9, the MagicPad 2 wins on display and audio—its brightness and sound experience are harder to beat. But it falls short in software longevity, durability, and overall polish. Of course, price and availability is a factor; the MagicPad 2 isn’t sold locally in the US, for example.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9: Best 11″ Android Tablet With AMOLED

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 features an 11‑inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 at about 274 ppi. It supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR10+, giving a crisp, vibrant visual experience. The design is just 5.9 mm thick and weighs 498 g, making it one of the lightest premium tablets out there. It’s also IP68 rated and made of aluminum and glass. Since this is a Samsung S tablet, of course it comes with the S-Pen as well, which works about just as well here as on the S10 Ultra.

Underneath is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip paired with either 8 GB or 12 GB RAM and up to 256 GB internal storage plus microSD expansion. The Tab S9 packs an 8,400 mAh battery with 45 W fast charging and comes with the S Pen included. Samsung guarantees up to four Android upgrades (now running Android 15 with One UI 7). In our testing, this tablet can still easily handle the most demanding of Android games and productivity software.

Compared to the MagicPad 2, the Tab S9 offers more refined build quality, better update support, water resistance, and faster connectivity—even if it doesn’t match the raw brightness or loudspeaker setup of Honor’s offering. And while it can’t compete with the Ultra’s giant screen or brightness, it wins on portability and price. This is our pick for the best balance between price and quality.
