Apple iPad 10: Device Basics

The 10th-generation iPad has a design that resembles the iPad Air and iPad Pro with a metal body. It comes in four colors: blue, pink, yellow, and silver.

At the front, the highlight is the 10.9-inch Liquid Retina IPS LCD that covers almost the entirety with thin bezels and no home button. The display has a resolution of 1640 x 2360 pixels and a brightness of 500 nits. It also has a True Tone feature that adjusts the color temperature based on the current lighting conditions.

It’s powered by the Apple A14 Bionic chip, a six-core CPU with two high-performance and four efficiency cores. In the graphics department, the tablet is equipped with a four-core GPU. The iPad 10 runs with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 256GB of internal storage.

There’s a 12MP rear camera capable of recording 4K video at 30 fps. At the front is another 12MP camera that supports FaceTime HD and CenterStage. A notable hardware inclusion on the 10th-gen iPad is the USB-C 2.0 port that supports DisplayPort, allowing you to connect it to an external monitor or TV.

Since the tablet no longer has a home button, the fingerprint sensor is built into the power button for a convenient way to unlock it and authenticate purchases. The iPad 10 also supports the Apple Pencil, which attaches magnetically to the side of the tablet.

Pricing and Availability

The Apple iPad 10 has been available in the US and the UK since October 2022. The starting price for the 64GB model is $449, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular model with 64GB of storage starts at $599.

For more storage, there’s a 256GB model that starts at $599 for a Wi-Fi only tablet and $749 if you’re looking for one with 5G.

In the UK, prices for the base model start at £499, with the 256GB model going up to £679.

Apple iPad 10 Alternatives

The iPad 10 is a tablet that’s sufficient for most people. If you’re looking for alternatives, one device to consider is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE. It’s a budget-friendly Android tablet with a 10.9-inch Super AMOLED display powered by the Exynos 1380. It comes with an S Pen, so it’s one area where you can save.

Another option that you can consider is the Microsoft Surface Go 3. It’s a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet hybrid that runs Windows 11. It comes with a kickstand and keyboard, another accessory you don’t have to get separately.

Lastly, the 9th generation iPad is still a great pick if you want a more affordable iPad. It has a 10.2-inch display and an A13 Bionic chip but does not have a USB-C port or CenterStage.

The Apple iPad 10 is faster than all Android tablets. Especially compared to its predecessor, it offers a better and more modern design, a bit lager and bright 10.9-inch display, as well as a new and good keyboard cover. Overall, it's a great tablet but it does have a bunch of downsides. The screen is not laminated and I noticed a jelly effect. You can get it with the first-generation Apple Pencil. However, for that one to work you have to buy an extra adapter which is ridiculous. And, sadly, the price has increased.
Positive
  • New modern design
  • Bright screen
  • Outstanding performance
  • iPadOS with long updates
  • Apple Pencil support
  • New keyboard cover
  • Fingerprint scanner
Negative
  • Non-laminated display
  • Jelly effect
  • Apple Pencil adapter
