Apple iPad Pro 12.9” 2022: What You Need to Know

The iPad Pro 12.9” 2022 is the sixth generation of Apple’s flagship tablets. It’s the first to feature a mini-LED display with 10,000 tiny LEDs to backlight the screen. This results in improved brightness and contrast with an LCD panel than previous generations.

Apart from its top-quality display, it’s powered by Apple’s M2 chip, also used in the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. It has 10 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores, making it one of the most powerful processors on a tablet.

Since it’s a pro model, it has a dual camera setup on the back. You’ll find a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 10MP ultrawide-angle lens. Even though most tablets don’t have exceptional camera systems, the iPad Pro can capture 4K videos at 60 fps while supporting features such as HDR and Dolby Vision.

On the front, there’s a 12MP camera that supports Face ID. A useful camera feature on the new iPad Pro is CenterStage, which ensures it keeps you in frame during a video conference session, even if you’re moving around the room.

Instead of the Lightning port, the iPad Pro 2022 generation has a USB Type-C 4 that supports Thunderbolt 4. It’s a major upgrade from previous iPad Pros, allowing you to connect it to external devices like monitors and hard drives. With the port supporting up to 40Gbps data transfer speeds, it can output 4K video on an external display.

As a professional-level tablet, the iPad Pro is compatible with several accessories that enhance its functionality and productivity. The most important one is Apple Pencil support, allowing you to use your tablet for drawing and writing. Keyboard accessories like the Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard Folio to use it like a laptop.

Alternatives

The Apple iPad Pro 12.9” 2022 is undoubtedly one of the best tablets in the market, but it’s also expensive. If you’re looking for a different or more affordable option, plenty of alternatives exist.

At the top of the list is the Samsung Galaxy S9 Ultra, a tablet with a 14.6-inch mini-LED display with 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, which offers comparable performance to the Apple M2 chip on the iPad Pro. For $1199, you’ll get a much larger display and an included S Pen stylus.

If you want to stay in the Apple ecosystem, consider the 11-inch iPad Pro, with prices starting at $799 for the 128 GB configuration. The only difference between its 12.9-inch sibling is the display type and size. Another excellent alternative is the iPad Air 5th Generation with the Apple M1 chip, with prices for its 256 GB variant at $749.

The Apple iPad Pro M2 is the best tablet you can buy right now. It's more powerful than all competitors, has two very pretty 11-inch and 12.9-inch displays, as well as a premium built. We get great premium features like the good Apple Pencil 2, fantastic keyboard covers, facial recognition, and good speakers. However, compared to its predecessors, almost nothing has changed.
